Skin aging is an inevitable and natural process. It starts around the age of 25, but can only really be seen later. The skin aging process can be slowed down with the right laser treatments.
What happens during the skin ageing process?
Skin aging takes place on multiple levels in the skin. The epidermis becomes thinner, making it more vulnerable to external damage. The skin can also become drier by decreasing the number of sebaceous glands.
In the dermis, the number and quality of collagen and elastin decreases. As a result, the skin loses firmness and weakens. Due to the decrease in collagen and elastin, wrinkles and folds are created.
The rate and extent to which the skin ages is partly determined by heredity and partly by external factors that can accelerate the skin aging process. Exposure to sunlight and tanning beds, smoking and air pollution can affect the skin aging process.
Laser treatment at Huid & Laser Utrecht
The skin aging process cannot be stopped. However, we can slow down this process with various laser treatments.
At Huid & Laser Utrecht we work with multiple types of fractional lasers, such as a Co2, Erbium-YAG and the Erbium-Glass laser. For the best result, a combination of the lasers is often very effective. The lasers work at different levels in the skin, so that the skin aging process can be tackled at every level. The fractional lasers can slow down the skin aging process by strongly stimulating collagen production.
Skin aging peels at Huid & Laser Utrecht
A peeling consists of different types of ingredients (acids), each with specific properties that penetrate to a certain skin layer. The peeling causes the top layer of skin to soften. This activates the skin renewal process, causing the dead skin cells to flake off and be replaced by new, healthy skin cells. After the peeling, the condition and resistance of the skin is improved, which is visible in a fresh and radiant skin.
At Huid & Laser Utrecht, the skin can be treated with various medium deep to deep peels. These peels differ in strength, depth and effect, so that different indications can be treated. For example, there are peels for reducing acne, acne scars, pigmentation spots, melasma, fine lines and a coarse skin texture. Peelings can be used as a stand-alone treatment, but often the best results are achieved when combined with light and laser treatments. During the consultation, the skin therapist assesses which peeling is suitable for you. For skin improvement and rejuvenation of the skin, we work with the following peels from Dermaceutic.
Dermaceutic Cosmo peel
With the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and a coarser skin structure, the skin can be improved with the Dermaceutic Cosmo Peel. This peeling contains various percentages of TCA, among other things, so that the peeling can be built up in terms of strength.
Dermaceutic Cosmo Peel Forte
The Cosmo Peel Forte is suitable for aging skin where skin slackening and wrinkles are visible, for skin type 1 and 2. Irregular skin structure and (acne) scars can also be treated with this peeling. The peeling contains 20% TCA, 10% Phenol and 10% glycolic acid.
Start treatment with home products
You start the treatment at least 2-6 weeks before the peeling with the Dermaceutic home products. These products make the skin permeable to the peeling. The optimal result can thus be achieved. This also ensures that the skin heals safely and quickly. These products can then be used again 7-14 days after the treatment to maintain the result of the treatment. The products below are often advised:
- Dermaceutic Foamer 5/15
- Dermaceutic Turn Over or Light Ceutic night cream
- Dermaceutic Retinol 0.5 or 1.0
The daily use of the right skin care products is important to optimize and maintain the results of the treatments. In addition to the above products, it is also important to protect the skin. An antioxidant should be used daily under the day cream with a SPF to minimize harmful external influences. These harmful influences cause a breakdown of collagen production. We recommend that you first make an appointment for a free, no-obligation consultation, so that the skin therapist can advise you on which products are suitable for your skin. During this consultation we make skin analysis with the Observ 520 in order to tailor the advice to your skin as well as possible.
