The clinic

A skin therapist is an HBO-trained specialist in treating healthy, damaged or diseased skin.

Skin therapists fall under Article 34 of the BIG Act (Individual Occupational Health Care Act). The purpose of the BIG Act is to promote and monitor the quality of healthcare. Article 34 describes the areas of expertise and training requirements. Those who have a diploma that meets the requirements are entitled to use the protected training title. Such a title indicates that the wearer is an expert in a particular field of health care.

An free consultation is always free and without obligation

A consultation at Huid & Laser Utrecht is a no-obligation consultation with the skin therapist. During your consultation, all your questions and treatment options will be discussed. You will receive a treatment plan and an exact quote.

In principle, there is no age limit to start fractional laser skin rejuvenation treatments. Skin aging is a natural process and cannot be stopped. From about 25 years, the first signs of skin aging can become visible. You will see what you do with your skin from this age onwards. The signs of skin aging can be made less visible by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin fibers in the skin with the fractional lasers. These fibers are the building blocks of the skin and provide firmness. As the skin ages, cell division of the skin slows down and less collagen production will take place. For this reason, we recommend starting with the fractional lasers as soon as the first signs of skin aging become visible, so that the skin aging process is slowed down. From about 25 years old, optimal collagen production can be achieved by the fractional laser.

Fractional lasers can improve your skin texture, color, starting lines and scars.

We are immediately accessible, anyone can make an appointment without a referral letter. If you qualify for reimbursement from your health insurance, you may need a referral for your insurance. It is best to check these conditions yourself with your own health insurance. Your skin therapist will be happy to explain more during the consultation if this is necessary.

If you have additional insurance, a reimbursement by the health insurer is possible. We advise you to contact your health insurer to discuss the options and policy conditions.

Laser treatments

The question of whether laser treatment can cause damage to your body is still often asked. Lasers work in a very controlled and targeted manner. The light from the laser is only absorbed by the target you wish to treat. The rest of the skin structures leave the laser alone. At Huid & Laser Utrecht we work with air cooling, which cools the surrounding skin. In this way, the surrounding skin is turned off for the heat of the laser. This also ensures that side effects are prevented as much as possible and that skin reactions disappear quickly. All equipment that Huid & Laser Utrecht works with is approved by the so-called FDA approval. FDA stands for Food and Drugs Administration. The FDA operates with strict requirements that you must meet to meet this approval.

Huid & Laser Utrecht uses the internal guideline ‘Laser safety for skin therapy’. This guideline describes the requirements that the practitioners and the clinic must meet when performing a laser treatment. This directive complies with all European legislation and quality requirements. All skin therapists from Huid & Laser Utrecht also have the laser safety certificate.

The big difference between laser and IPL is the wavelength. IPL is not a laser but light. Laser has 1 wavelength and reacts to 1 target in the skin, for example the pigment in the hair follicle. IPL consists of a light spectrum of several wavelengths together. This means that the light from IPL is absorbed by multiple chromophores in the skin.

ACNE

In principle, this can be done at all ages. It is important that parental / guardian consent is given when someone is under 18 years old. It is important to tackle the acne as soon as possible to prevent unwanted scars.

Unfortunately, this is more common, even if it did not bother you during puberty. Acne that develops later in life is called Acne Tarda. This is more common in women than in men. Acne Tarda gives the same skin complaints as Acne Vulgaris and is therefore also treated in this way. The different treatment options can be found in the explanation about the acne treatment.

If you have additional health insurance, you may be eligible for reimbursement from your health insurer. All skin therapists of Huid & Laser Utrecht are affiliated with the Dutch Association of Skin Therapists, we also meet all requirements of the Paramedics Quality Register. We advise you to contact your health insurer to discuss the possibilities for reimbursement.

Redness

Visible red to purple blood vessels on the legs, known as berry trips, can develop during pregnancy. Usually this gives a cosmetic complaint. Under the influence of pregnancy hormones, the connective tissue in the vessel wall becomes weaker, causing the vessels to expand and become visible. These vats have no further function for the vascular bed of the legs. Therefore, they can be safely and effectively treated with the vascular laser.

PIGMENTATION

Melasma is also known as a pregnancy mask, because it often occurs during pregnancy under the influence of hormones. Despite being called that, it can also be visible after other factors such as excessive sunbathing, hormonal fluctuations such as changing birth control or through certain medications. Huid & Laser Utrecht offers advice and laser treatments for melasma. We treat this with the Erbium-YAG (2940nm) laser or the Mela Peel Forte from Dermaceutic. In addition to these treatments, lifestyle advice is very important. You can think of, for example, lubricating a daily SPF cream to prevent aggravation. The skin therapists at Huid & Laser Utrecht will be happy to tell you more about this.
